Great Arab Minds is an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. It is the Arab world's largest scientific movement, dedicated to discovering, recognizing and empowering exceptional Arab minds across scientific and humanitarian disciplines, while amplifying the impact of their contributions across the Arab world and beyond.
The initiative is rooted in the Arab world's rich scientific heritage and the enduring belief that the Arab mind has always been, and will continue to be, a driving force behind human civilization. For centuries, Arab scholars illuminated the path of knowledge through groundbreaking contributions to medicine, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, and many other disciplines, laying the foundations of what is now known as the Arab Golden Age.
Today, however, the Arab world faces a profound challenge. Every year, the Arab world loses an estimated US$2 trillion as a result of brain drain, as many of its brightest minds and most talented professionals pursue opportunities abroad.
Great Arab Minds was launched to reignite the Arab civilizational drive. It is founded on the belief that reversing the brain drain is not an impossible ambition, but a shared responsibility.
